Ampleforth College was established in 1802 and adjoins the Benedictine monastry and abbey of St Laurence in magnificient Yorkshire countryside, close to York.  Ampleforth on the southern boundary of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.  The grounds extend to 2000 acres of outstanding natural beauty.  Ampleforth is one of the leading independent schools in the UK with wonderful facilities and a high standard of accommodation.

The Location

Quick access to the major road network means that Leeds/Bradford (1 hour) and Manchester International (2 hours) airports are within easy reach of Ampleforth.   There are hundreds of cheap flights to Manchester from all over Europe and beyond; our transfer service is easy and economical. Transfers from and to all London airports are easily arranged.  The historic city of York is only 30 minutes away and some of the UK's finest areas of natural beauty - the North York Moors, the Lake District and the Yorkshire coast - are all just short coach journey away.

Accommodation

Premium accommodation is in single rooms with ensuite facilities.  Less expensive accommodation is available in normal single rooms and in rooms with two to four beds - these residences are towards the edge of the college campus and the standard of comfort is very high.

Food

Catering at Ampleforth is based on the use of fresh local and homemade food.  There is always a wide choise of dishes and salads including a vegetarian option, providing the necessary balanced diet for students.  All dietary requirements can be accommodated.

In addition to attending 15 hours English language lessons per week (20 lessons), students at Ampleforth College will have two lessons using Rosetta Stone, a state of the art interactive English language software programme which utilises voice recognition and corrects accents of all nationalities.  Students can have additional time each week to use this programme, if they so wish.

Additional trips to London can be arranged.

Group Leaders will receive two free English lessons and a social eveing with staff each week.
