The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board (LCCIEB) was established over 100 years ago and is one of the oldest and largest awarding bodies in the field of business. The English for Commerce and Spoken English for Industry and Commerce examinations are internationally recognised standards of attainment and are widely recognised by professional bodies and educational establishments world-wide. Candidates who pass an LCCIEB examination can be confident that they are receiving an award that proves to employers that they have the relevant skills to perform effectively in their job. The examinations are held at over 500 centres throughout the world, including Churchill House, which is the Local Centre for the examinations in this area.
Our courses
Churchill House prepares students for two London Chamber of Commerce and Industry examinations:
- English for Commerce, mainly a written examination.
- Spoken English for Industry and Commerce (SEFIC), an oral examination.
We run 9 - 12 week courses three times a year and the examinations can be taken at three different levels.
A great advantage of our courses is that you can study simultaneously for the written English for Commerce examination, and the Spoken English for Industry and Commerce (SEFIC), so you can take both examinations at the end of the course. Universally recognised certificates are awarded to candidates who pass one or both examinations.
Your class
In your morning class you study general English language skills at the module level which is appropriate for you. It is important to develop your communication in English in all areas.
(20 lessons per week, 16 hours 40 minutes total teaching time.)
In the afternoon you share a class with those intermediate and advanced students who are also taking London Chamber of Commerce and Industry examinations. Our expert teachers prepare you specifically to take your exams including examination technique and business related topics and vocabulary. (13 lessons per week on 4 afternoons, 10 hours 50 minutes total teaching time.)
Each course consists of 33 lessons per week (27 hours 30 minutes total teaching time). You may expect approximately 12 hours homework a week. There is a maximum of 13 students per class. There is an Entrance Test for each course and only students who have passed this test are permitted to join the course.
Our London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examination Courses are run to the same exacting standards as our University of Cambridge Examination courses, backed by our long experience and highly successful teaching methods. This is reflected in our consistently high pass rate which has been well over 90% in the past few years.

The London Chamber of Commerce & Industry Examinations are widely recognised and are held three times a year at Churchill House. There are two examinations, one spoken and one written. We run 10-12 week courses preparing simultaneously for both exams. These courses have a Main Course in the mornings with the afternoons devoted to specialised exam work.
