16 week University of Cambridge Proficiency Examination Courses
The Proficiency is the highest non-specialist Cambridge examination and is recognised as the English language requirement by British universities. In a number of countries the Certificate in Proficiency is a qualification for teaching English in primary or secondary schools, and for admission to courses or employment where a thorough knowledge of English is required.

The examination includes:
Paper 1 - reading comprehensions (1.25 hours)
Paper 2 - 2 compositions (2 hours)
Paper 3 - use of English (2 hours)
Paper 4 - listening comprehension (35 minutes approx.)
Paper 5 - an interview based on a picture and topics related to the picture's theme (15 minutes)

Students are also asked to read a set book which is used as background preparation for Paper 2 & Paper 5.

Our courses give you the maximum possible opportunity of passing, proved by our superb record of past successes.

You have 33 lessons per week (25 hours total teaching time). You may be expected to do approximately 15 hours homework a week. There is a maximum of 14 students per class.

Your Examination Class
Your Cambridge examination class is run independently of the other courses so you study only with those students who are taking the same exam as you. All three courses are carefully designed to a formula which has been proved successful by our excellent results.

In the morning class we aim to improve your general English, to develop your vocabulary and awareness of grammar, and to help you specifically with the writing skills and interview techniques that you need for the exam.

In the afternoon class our expert teachers concentrate more on exam techniques providing you with plenty of practice and help with the reading, listening, composition and use of English papers.

4 week First Certificate and Proficiency Alpha Courses
Our Alpha courses are intensive short courses especially designed for you if you cannot spend a long time in England and yet need to pass one of the Cambridge exams. They are ideal if you have studied for a Cambridge exam in your own country and want a final intensive stage to maximise your chance of passing, if you have already taken the exam but failed and want a refresher course before retaking it, or if you already have the level of English necessary for the exam but require intensive revision and technique training.

Your Alpha Class
You study only with those students who are also on the Alpha course. For the first three weeks you follow an intensive syllabus including mock examinations and development of exam techniques. In the last week your course requires you to do intensive examination practice in order to maximise your chance of success.

Your Alpha course consists of 44 lessons per week (33 hours total teaching time). You are expected to do approximately 13 hours homework per week. There is a maximum of 5 students per class.

PLEASE NOTE: To enable us to enter you for the actual examination we must receive your Enrolment Form by the specified date. Please refer to the course prices and dates.

To join any of the above courses it is essential that you have the required level of English. If you do not, you should take one of our Lead Up courses which will bring you up to this level.
