Summer Roving Manager
Based at: Several designated Churchill House School of English Language (CHSoEL) summer centre sites.
Position Reports to: Summer Centres Director, Head Office, Ramsgate.
Job Purpose Summary: To visit the designated sites with a view to monitoring and ensuring the quality of the management of the sites. To step in to any centre that requires coverage of either the Centre Manager of DOS roles.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Roving Manager is responsible to the Summer Centres Director and is responsible for:
• Monitoring the performance of Centre Managers and DOSs.
• Supporting Centre Managers and DOSs.
• Troubleshooting problem areas and providing solutions.
• Monitoring paperwork and ensuring that deadlines are met.
• Reporting daily to Head Office.
• Stepping into any site that requires cover of either the Centre Manager or DOS role.
Hours of Work
Roving Managers work six days out of seven. Roving Managers will be accommodated at or near the site that they are working at on any given day. The nature of the job requires CHSoEL Centre Managers to be flexible and willing to address situations whenever they arise.
Professional Development
Roving Managers are on the thirteenth rung of the Company's Management Pay Scale. Roving Managers are direct representatives of the Summer Centres Director. We aim to retain good staff by giving them excellent support from Head Office.

Personal Situation
Able to live-in at the various Centres for the duration of the Centres' operational periods. Able to work extended hours when necessary. Not restricted by family commitments. Ability to drive is essential.

Experience
Throughout the summer, Roving Managers are supported by the various Heads of Department at the main school in Ramsgate to ensure that the resources required are available to implement the high standards of customer care that CHSoEL clients expect.
• Previous summer school residential experience.
• Previous experience of working with overseas students.
Qualifications
The role of Roving Manager requires:
• Degree level or above education.
• Recognised TEFL qualification: DELTA, DipTESOL, MA (or British Council recognised equivalents).
• Managerial qualifications and evidence of managerial training.
• A sound knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access) and their use.
Training
It is a prerequisite of the position that all Roving Managers attend the management training sessions from Monday 2nd July 2012 (accommodation will be paid for and up to £75 travel expenses will be reimbursed). Full details of the training sessions will be sent at a later date.
Duties
Core duties include, but are not limited to:
• Site management.
o Monitoring the safety and well-being of all staff and clients.
o Liaising with the host institution's staff.
o Monitoring to ensure the conditions of use (the Service Agreement) are adhered to.
o Ensuring that monitoring and limiting damage to the site and its furnishings and equipment is being carried out.
• People management.
o Monitoring the managing and motivating of the CHSoEL team by the Centre Manager.
o Monitoring performance of the Centre Manager, DOS and Activity Manager.
o Liasing with Group Leaders and ensuring that Group Leaders carry out their agreed commitments.
o Ensuring that the monitoring and maintenance of discipline within the staff and students is being carried out by the Centre Manager.
o Dealing with any grievances or complaints.
• Administration.
o Monitoring and maintaining all paperwork and ensuring that it is submitted on or before the deadlines set by Head Office.
o Daily reporting to Head Office.
o Writing an end of contract report assessing the summer's performance.
• Covering other roles.
o In the event of the Roving Manager becoming a Centre Manager or a DOS, the Roving Manager will assume the duties of that role. Other duties will revert to Head Office.
• The end of contract report remains a requirement (unless there has been insufficient time in the Roving role to accumulate any meaningful data).
