Summer Jobs:

The Activity Programme

The Activity Programme is an extremely important part of the summer programme in its own right, but is also an extension of the English Programme, as many of the activities are designed to ensure that the students continue to communicate in English outside of the classroom.

In most Churchill House Summer Schools, every afternoon and evening, as well as weekends, are dedicated to the activity programme.  The activities offered to the students are varied, well planned and engaging. Each summer centre has an Activities Manager who is responsible for coordinating the programme and is supported by a number of activity organisers and the teaching staff.  The staff collectively and individually, not only bring specialist skills to enhance the delivery of the activity programme, but are always willing to get fully involved and participate along side the students.

Afternoon Activities

Afternoon on site activities are split into two sessions of an hour each, with a half an hour break in the middle for refreshments.  The choices on offer are varied and include; art, swimming, football, drama, basketball, treasure hunts, volleyball, music and tennis.  Afternoon off site activities may involve a trip into the local town to visit a tourist attraction or to do some last minute souvenir shopping for friends and family. Afternoon Project Work is also an option for some group students.

Evening activities

The evening activities provide an opportunity for all the students to get together and enjoy the atmosphere of a Churchill House Summer School in a truly multinational environment. The evening activities include; disco, karaoke, blind date, talent night, international night, cinema, bowling, sports tournaments, and film night.  At each centre there is one off site evening activity each week

Excursions

All Churchill House Centres have a full day and half day excursion each week.  These naturally vary from centre to centre, but always provide Churchill House students the opportunity to see internationally famous tourist attractions as well as visit some of England’s most beautiful cities.  Churchill House staff are responsible for the welfare and safety of the students on all excursions.
