Activity Managers

Churchill House Activity Managers are responsible for all aspects of the activity programme and are able to demonstrate exceptional organisational and leadership qualities.  Previous residential summer school experience is an essential requirement as is the ability to effectively organise a team of staff to ensure the students are provided with a stimulating programme of activities.  While the ability to lead activities is important, Churchill House Activity Managers spend most of their day organising the programme and supporting the Centre Manager in all aspects of summer school management.

  • Experience in organising a programme of activities for students
  • Evidence of effective management experience.
  • Previous residential summer school experience
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Flexibility

Hours of Work

Activity Managers work six days out of seven. The nature of the job requires Churchill House Activity Managers to be flexible and willing to address situations whenever they arise.

Training

   It is a prerequisite of the position that all Activity Managers attend the Management Training Weekend starting on Friday 27th June.  (Accommodation will be paid for and reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed). 

Duties

The Activity Manager is responsible to the Centre Manager and must;

  • Implement and monitor the activity programme
  • Support and manage the activity and teaching staff in all aspects of the activity programme
  • Confirm or make bookings for the weekly activity programme
  • Ensure  all transport for the activity programme and student departures is booked well in advance
  • Ensure appropriate standards of student discipline are maintained
  • Deal sensitively student and group leader enquires
  • Hold regular meetings to inform staff of their duties
  • Ensure British Council guidelines are observed

Other Duties

  • Assist Centre Manager in running the centre as and when required
  • Help and welcome new arrivals
  • Assist with House, morning and night time duties
  • Have an awareness of all aspects of the management of the centre
  • Assist with welfare and pastoral duties
  • Stand in for the Centre Manager when required
  • Ensure the quality and values of Churchill House are maintained

Salary

£310 + p/w

Plus holiday pay

Dependent on experience, size of school and length of contract
