Summer Assistant Centre Manager
Based at: One of Churchill House School of English Language (CHSoEL) summer centre sites.
Position Reports to: Centre Manager.
Job Purpose Summary: To support and assist the Centre Manager.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Assistant Centre Manager is responsible to the Centre Manager and is responsible for:
• Supporting and assisting the Centre Manager.
• Carrying out such tasks as the Centre Manager delegates.
• Standing in for the Centre Manager whenever the Centre Manager is off duty or unavailable.
• Ensuring that the site's rules and regulations are maintained.
Hours of Work
Assistant Centre Managers work six days out of seven. The nature of the job requires CHSoEL Assistant Centre Managers to be flexible and willing to address situations whenever they arise. It may be the case the Assistant Centre Managers will be assigned to different sites during their contract, depending upon which sites require assistance. It is also possible that Assistant Centre Managers may be offered promotion to Centre Managers if the situation arises where cover is required and their performance has shown that they have the qualities required.
Professional Development
Assistant Centre Managers start on the fourth rung of the Company's Management Pay Scale. We aim to retain good staff by giving them excellent support from Head Office. Assistant Centre Managers are employed with a view to them becoming Centre Managers in the following or subsequent years, depending upon their performance.

Highly-motivated, energetic and personable. An excellent communicator and problem solver who works well under pressure and works efficiently within tight deadlines. Able to maintain a relaxed but still authoritative working environment. Able to multi-task without losing track of the bigger picture.
Personal Situation
Able to live-in at the Centre for the duration of the Centre's operational period. Able to work extended hours when necessary. Not restricted by family commitments. Ability to drive is preferred.

Experience
Throughout the summer, Assistant Centre Managers are supported by their respective Centre Managers to ensure that the resources required are available to implement the high standards of customer care that CHSoEL clients expect.
• Previous summer school residential experience.
• Previous experience of working with overseas students.
Qualifications
The role of Assistant Centre Manager does not require any formal qualifications. However, as a management role certain educational achievements (or their equivalents) are strongly preferred:
• Degree level or above education.
• Recognised TEFL qualification: CELTA, CertTESOL, DELTA, DipTESOL, MA (or British Council recognised equivalents).
• Managerial qualifications and evidence of managerial training.
• A sound knowledge of MS Office programs and their use.
Training
Assistant Centre Managers will be given an induction on-site and receive on the job training.
Duties
Core duties include, but are not limited to:
• Site management.
o Assisting in ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff and clients.
o Liaising with the host institution's staff.
o Assisting in ensuring the conditions of use (the Service Agreement) are adhered to.
o Assisting in monitoring and limiting damage to the site and its furnishings and equipment.
o Any other duties reasonably delegated by the Centre Manager.
o Covering the Centre Manager when they are not available.
• People management.
o Assisting in the managing and motivating of the CHSoEL team.
o Liasing with Group Leaders and ensuring that Group Leaders carry out their agreed commitments.
o Assisting in monitoring and maintaining discipline within the staff and students.
o Any other duties reasonably delegated by the Centre Manager.
o Covering the Centre Manager when they are not available.
• Administration.
o Assisting in preparing accommodation lists and dealing with rooming requests and requirements.
o Assisting in preparing catering requirements and liasing with the site's catering provider.
o Assisting in preparing staff rotas.
o Assisting in monitoring and maintaining all paperwork and ensuring that it is submitted on or before the deadlines set by Head Office.
o Any other duties reasonably delegated by the Centre Manager.
o Covering the Centre Manager when they are not available.
