All our academic staff have been chosen for their qualifications, experience and motivation. Their enthusiasm and commitment ensure that students are helped to make maximum progress. They are also very kind, sympathetic and are always ready to give help and advice when needed.

Academic Principal

Our academic principal, John Flood, has over 30 years’ experience in teaching English and in academic management. He has been a teacher, teacher trainer and Director of Studies in various parts of the world (Turkey, Japan, Venezuela and Italy) and has been with Churchill House for over 25 years. He is responsible for the smooth running of the Teaching Department and with the help of senior teachers, maintaining the high quality of teaching.

Senior Teachers

Our academic principal is assisted by a team of Senior Teachers and Course Directors, all of whom have special responsibilities for different courses. This management structure and our systems of assessment and monitoring ensure that a close and personal interest is continually taken in our students and the progress that they make. Our senior teachers are Anne Cave and Nick Care. Anne is a our module course director, head of the resources department, and is also responsible for monitoring the welfare of young adults in the main school. Nick is the elective course director and also has special responsibility for the progress and welfare of our Arabic speaking students.

Our current roster of permanent teachers (as of March 2014) is as follows:

  • Anne Cave
  • Nick Care
  • Andrew Nolan
  • Danny Norris
  • Janie Cook
  • Jerome Tovey
  • John Westbrook
  • Paul Hale
  • Rebecca Castle
  • Shiralee Matthews
  • Stuart Taylor

In peak months, we also employ extra teachers on a seasonal or part-time basis. Each of these teachers will be carefully selected by our academic management team to ensure that they meet the standards we expect of a Churchill House teacher.
