For students that have decided to travel without using any of our transfer services, we have provided step by step guides on how to reach Ramsgate from the major southern transport hubs in England. All of the information below should be used as a guide only and more detailed, current information should be sought by the student prior to travel.

Quickest Option: Follow the signs to the “Heathrow Express” train and buy a single ticket to London Paddington (approximately £20). Once in Paddington follow the signs for the London Underground and buy a single ticket to King Cross St. Pancras Station (approximately £4.50). Then take the eastbound Hammersmith & City line (pink) to Kings Cross St. Pancras Station. Once you have arrived, follow the sign for St. Pancras Train Station and buy a ticket for the high speed train service to Ramsgate (approximately £39). This entire journey should take 3-4 hours.

Cheapest Option: Follow the signs to the London Underground and buy a single ticket to Victoria Station (approximately £5.50). To get to Victoria Station take the Piccadilly line (dark blue) to Earls Court than change to the eastbound District line (green) until you reach Victoria Station. Once at Victoria buy a single ticket to Ramsgate Station (approximately £33). This entire journey should take 4-5 hours.

Easiest Option: Follow the signs to the “Gatwick Express” train and buy a single ticket to London Victoria (approximately £20). Once at Victoria buy a single ticket to Ramsgate Station (approximately £33). This entire journey should take around 3 hours.

Cheapest Option: Follow the signs to Gatwick train station and buy a single ticket to Ramsgate that does not go via London (ask at the ticket desk if it is easier). Take the next available train to Redhill Station. Get off at Redhill Station and take the next available train to Tonbridge Station. Get off at Tonbridge Station and take the next available train to Ramsgate Station. This entire journey should take around 3 hours and cost approximately £20.

Follow the signs to Stansted Airport train station and buy a single ticket to Ramsgate (including the high speed service). Take the next available train to Tottenham Hale Station. At Tottenham Hale station follow the signs to the London Underground and take the southbound Victoria line (light blue) to Kings Cross St Pancras Station. Do not buy an underground ticket, your train ticket will work in the ticket machines. Once you have arrived, follow the signs for St. Pancras Station and board the next high speed train to Ramsgate. This journey should take around 3 hours and cost approximately £46.

Follow the signs to Luton Airport train station and buy a single ticket to Ramsgate (including the high speed service). Take the next available train to Luton Airport Parkway Station. Get off at Luton Airport Parkway Station and take the next available train to London St. Pancras. Get off at St. Pancras and take the next available high speed train to Ramsgate. This journey should take around 3 hours and cost approximately £53.

Coaches are available at all the London airports (just follow the signs for coaches or ask at airport information) and terminate at London Victoria Coach Station. Coaches from the airports mentioned above will take between 1 to 2 hours to arrive at Victoria Coach Station and will cost from £6 - £20. Once at Victoria Coach Station, you can take another coach to Ramsgate. The price for this journey will be approximately £15 and can take around 3-4 hours.

Outside the ferry terminal there are regular busses to take passengers to Dover Priory train station (approximately £2). At Dover Priory station, buy a single ticket to Ramsgate train station (approximately £9). This entire journey should take 1-2 hours.

Ashford International is on the Eurostar route from Paris to London. Follow the signs to the train station and buy a single ticket to Ramsgate (approximately £12). At least two trains to Ramsgate depart every hour and the journey time is approximately 45 minutes.

Ebbsfleet international is also on the Eurostar route from Paris to London and is slightly further away from Ramsgate than Ashford International. Trains from Ebbsfleet International to Ramsgate run twice an hour and cost approximately £27.
