Prior Park College, Bath, Somerset
An historic setting in every sense
Residential ages 10-17
Homestay ages 12-17
Prior Park was designed in 1830 by the famous architect John Wood the Elder for Ralph Allen, the entrepreneur who rebuilt Bath using the honey coloured Bath stone that was first used on his grand Palladian mansion. The school is in beautiful landscaped grounds overlooking the beautiful city with its famous spa waters and rich Roman history. The Roman style bridge, statues and ornate chapel only add to the historical atmosphere that can be enjoyed at this remarkable school.
The Location
Bath has a range of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities and provides very easy access to London by rail or bus, as well as the two major London airports - Gatwick is 2 hours and Heathrow is only 90 minutes away.
Accommodation
At Prior Park both residential and homestay accommodation is available.
Residential students are accommodated in separate houses (boys and girls). The rooms are mainly single and double rooms with some 3, 4, 5 and 6 bedded rooms. The boys' accommodation is undergoing improvements before our summer term. The girls' accommodation is very comfortable with three common rooms, a kitchen and a dining room.
Homestay students stay with English families in the local area.
Many families are within 30 minutes walk of the centre. If not, we provide a FREE school bus pass or FREE taxi service to and from the centre. Families provide breakfast each day and five evening meals; two meals are eaten at the site. Homestay provides students with the opportunity to experience the English way of life at first hand and to practice English outside the classroom - it is an enriching way to learn English.
Food
All meals are provided by the college in the artistic dining hall. There is a wide variety on offer on the menu from traditional ‘fish & chips' to pasta. The food is fresh and tasty and there is a wonderful salad bar too. We can cater for all dietary needs including vegetarian.
And More
Students get the opportunity to be amongst the 18th century Bath stone mansion which Ralph Allen, the pioneer of Bath stone buildings, lived in himself; "To see all Bath, and for all Bath to see". The picturesque views coupled with the Grade 1 listed buildings will leave students breathless.
Group Leaders will receive two free English lessons and a social evening with staff each week.
