Ampleforth College was established in 1802 and adjoins the Benedictine monastery and abbey of St Laurence in a stretch of magnificent Yorkshire countryside, close to York.

Ampleforth is part of the southern boundary of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The grounds extend to 2000 acres of outstanding natural beauty.

Ampleforth is one of the leading independent schools in the UK with wonderful facilities and a high standard of accommodation.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is mainly single and twin en-suite rooms with some four bedded rooms. The standard of comfort is very high.

FOOD

Catering at Ampleforth is based on the use of fresh locally sourced and home-made food. Always a wide choice and providing the necessary well balanced diet for the students – all requirements can be accommodated.

THE LOCATION

Quick access to the major road network means that Leeds/Bradford (1 hour) and Manchester International (2 hours) airports are within easy reach of Ampleforth. Transfers from and to all London airports are easily arranged. The historic city of York is only 30/40 minutes away and some of the UK’s finest areas of natural beauty - The North Yorkshire Moors, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Coast - are within easy reach.
