Summer Centre recruitment
Working in a Summer Centre
Working in a summer school is one of the most fun and rewarding jobs you could undertake, but do know it isn't always a breeze in the park.
You will be asked to teach (if you are TEFL qualified) and run activities in the afternoon which can include sport such as football, tennis, swimming or arts and crafts such as making friendship bracelets, jewellery or painting. In the evenings you will be asked to supervise and run activities such as discos, karaoke and performance pieces that the students themselves help prepare.
Excursions are also an integral part of a summer centre giving cultural experience to our students. You will accompany and guide students around cities like London, Bath, York and visit historical, cultural landmarks such as Stonehenge etc (all excursions depend on centre location).
Teachers will be expected to teach a minimum of three hours five days a week. You will have two paid sessions to prepare for your lessons as well as one paid teacher workshop a week. As a residential teacher you will be required to run eight activities in the form of sport, arts and crafts or excursions and two pastoral sessions which are duties such as lunch time patrol, house time supervision etc.
As an Activity Leader you will be asked to complete eighteen sessions with duties including preparation for excursions, running sports activities, running arts and crafts, guiding students on excursions as well as completing pastoral duties as mentioned above.
Residential Summer Centre work is busy but very rewarding. You will meet a lot of new people from many different countries, and make some very good friends with the people you work with.
