Group courses

Churchill House runs a number of different courses for groups of students arriving together:

2 week Crash Courses

With a maximum of 5 students per class and 30 hours of lessons per week, these courses are a cost effective solution for those small groups of students who need to learn a lot of English in a short period of time.

Teacher Development Courses

2 to 12 week professional development closed class courses for teachers of English - EFL professionals and English teachers from overseas primary and senior schools.

Courses are taught by teachers with the highest recognised diploma qualifications and supported by a large Resources Centre providing the latest books and material to teachers and students.

All Year Round Group Programmes

Churchill House runs closed class courses for school or college groups during the school year. The minimum length of course is one week, the minimum number of students is 12 and the minimum age is 10 years. Whole term courses of 11 or 12 weeks are possible too. Exam preparation can be incorporated into any course e.g. TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS or any of the Cambridge examination courses. All courses can be booked with an optional programme ofsports/leisure activities plus full and half day excursions organised by the Social Club.

For groups consisting of students aged 16 plus and booking a minimum of 2 weeks multi-national classes are possible from main month start dates.

Cambridge Alpha Courses

These courses at First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency level offer groups of students who cannot spare the time to study for three months or more the opportunity to take the exam after only 4 weeks of concentrated study in a small class of 4 or 5 students. They are also for students who may have followed the exam syllabus previously but who wish to improve their grade. Our own in-house Alpha test will assess your ability to follow these extremely intensive courses.

Special Interest Courses

Churchill House will design courses for any Special Interest Group - academic, professional, recreational or cultural. Courses for qualified professionals or for trainees who need intensive English specific to their work – from universities or government departments

Summer Vacation Group Courses

Every summer Churchill House offers summer vacation courses for groups of all ages with homestay and residential accommodation options in a number of different locations throughout the UK. Courses can be combined with an exciting programme of sports/leisure activities and full/half day excursions and multi-day tours to Scotland, Paris or Amsterdam. Churchill House runs summer vacation courses from mid June to early September. Courses with 15 hours teaching per week (20 lessons) start each week during the summer and can be booked with a comprehensive leisure programme. Intensive courses with 20 hours teaching per week( 26 lessons) or 25 hours (32 lessons) are possible from the main month start dates in July and August. Intensive course students will combine general English lessons with one or more of our Elective subjects. You choose from the range of subjects that includes: English for Business, IELTS, English for Academic Purposes or one of the Skills development subjects – Listening, Pronunciation, Speaking or Writing.

The Social Club provides all students with an evening social programme and the opportunity to book as many full/half day excursions or multi-day tours as they would like.

Students taking a course with 15 hours lessons per week can combine their course with a carefully designed leisure programme that offers a variety of activities, sports and excursions. We believe our students benefit from combining their studies with some time for relaxation, so if you wish to concentrate on your lessons and not to have think about what to do with your leisure time, let us organise it for you with the specially designed weekly activity programme.

Churchill House offers Family homestay and Self-catering accommodation options during the summer. The self-catering accommodation for up to 80 students is available in single study bedrooms with private shower room and toilet. Each group of 5 rooms shares a large well-equipped kitchen and there is also an onsite launderette and recreation room. Self-contained Flats, Flatshare and Hotels are other possible accommodation options.

We also run Residential campus and Family homestay Summer courses for students aged 10 to 17 at centres throughout the UK
