Applying To Work For Us
If you would like to work with us in the summer, we start recruiting in January. This page will explain the application process and how we progress your application to the point that you (hopefully!) start working with us.
Apply!
To apply, you need to send us a copy of your CV along with a covering letter/email, saying what job you would like to do, where you would like to work, and why you want the job.
Tips
- List all your work history in reverse chronological order (i.e. most recent job first). We need to see the last ten years.
- If this is your first job, tell us about any experience/hobbies/club memberships etc. that might be helpful in a summer school
- Personal statements on CVs are fine, but what employers really like to know is why you want the job, so tell us about yourself in a covering email!
Interview
If you’re selected for interview we will set up a video call or telephone interview at a convenient time. The interview is quite short and informal, but you will need to show that understand the role and how you meet the person specification in the Job Description.
Offer of Employment
If you are successful at interview we will write to you with a job offer with specific dates and location. If you are happy with this offer, you have to accept it in writing (just reply to the email), but if not, let us know and we will see if there is anything else we can offer you.
Paperwork!
There is a lot of admin we need to get through before you start work, but we will be in touch when we need something from you. We will need you to provide us with referees and you will have to complete a DBS check application. Also, if you live outside the UK, you will need to get a Certificate of Good Conduct from the local authorities there. This is a little bureaucratic, but absolutely necessary to work with children in the UK.
Joining Info
A week or so before you are due to start work we will be in touch to confirm where to go, what time and who will meet you there.
Starting Work
All staff will receive an induction from their line manager when they first arrive at the centre. This usually starts at 1pm, so please plan your journey to the centre with this in mind.
Have a good summer!
