Ramsgate Staff Vacancies
Our Ramsgate Main School is open all year round and offers English courses for adults, groups and junior students (summer only). It is a popular school, ranging from around 120 students in the winter to over 500 students in peak summer months. Our staff requirements fluctuate throughout the year as our student numbers rise and fall. Most new teachers or activity leaders are likely to be hired on a seasonal or part-time basis. However, if a candidate excels their role could certainly develop into a full time post. Occasionally, we also have positions available at our head office working in the operational side of the company. All of the roles currently available are listed below.
Teaching Positions
Teachers are essential to the delivery of a high quality language course. At Churchill House we strive to find the best teachers to ensure that our students receive lessons that challenge and inspire them.
Churchill House welcomes applications from teachers who hold a Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate, TESOL or post-graduate teaching qualification (PGCE or B. Ed) especially those with TEFL component. Exceptional applicants, who have substantial teaching experience and can offer a specialist skill outside of the classroom, may also be considered. Previous teaching experience is an advantage. Qualifications obtained through distance learning, one-day or one-week courses are not acceptable.
Welfare and Admin
Our student assistant scheme has been carefully designed for people that would like to experience the benefit of mixing lessons at Churchill House with practical work experience in the school.
Essentially, our student assistants are half Churchill House employee and half Churchill House pupil. If you are interested in getting some work experience whilst still improving your language skills – our student assistant scheme could be right for you.
Activity Leaders organise and run excursions, nightly events and daily activity sessions. It is an extremely important role as the failure or success of any activity programme rests on the Activity Leaders’ delivery of it. This means that we only accept the best when hiring new ALs. Whilst experience will assist an application, equally important is the applicant’s willingness to engage in all aspects of summer school life. Dedication, enthusiasm and flexibility are fundamental requirements for an Activity Leader position.
