Summer Junior Homestay Courses
As well as adult courses, Churchill House offers award-winning courses for junior students (12-17 years old) which combine the same excellent language teaching with a package of exciting and interesting activities, visits and excursions. Learn English on holiday by the sea!
English Classes
Our junior classes focus on helping students to gain confidence while developing their existing knowledge of English. Students are tested before arrival and put into classes with learners of similar ability. There are 15 hours lessons a week, Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 15 students per class. Students are encouraged to develop and practise their English skills to help them communicate more confidently and we often see students make rapid progress during their course. A zig-zag programme runs through the summer so students alternate between morning lessons and activities on a weekly basis.
Activities and Excursions
Our junior courses include a full programme of activities to encourage students to practice their English while taking part in a wide range of fun events such as discos, competitions, sports and shows. Courses also include one half-day and one full-day excursion each week, visiting attractions in the local area and the major sights of London and southern England.

Homestay Accommodation
Homestay accommodation offers a great opportunity to spend time with English people, learn about the English way of life and practise speaking in an English environment. We have been providing homestay courses for over forty-six years. Most of our families welcome our students all year-round so we have an excellent relationship with them and know them well.
Students become part of the family, living and eating meals with them seven days a week and enjoying leisure time with them on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Most of our families are within a 20-minute walk from the school although some older students may be in families a short bus or taxi ride away.
Student Welfare
All our courses are run with the safety and welfare of our students in mind. All our homestay accommodation is regularly inspected by our Accommodation Managers to ensure its suitability. All our activities are designed to be safe for junior students and at the end of the evening they are escorted home. Our students have the full support of our welfare team, with 24 hour emergency phone support.
